As usual the wind was pumping in Big Bay which made for a tough race. The delayed start meant that the wind had picked up even more!
The swim was…..hectic! You could barely see the buoys in the swim and coming back to shore I got caught by a wave and sommersaulted under water for what seemed like ages!
My heart rate monitor and power meter failed to work on my bike for some reason so I just had to go by feel. It was 3 loops so I could see how far the other ladies were infront on each turnaround. I was slowly gaining on them so all was good. By the end of the bike I was in 2nd place.
I overtook the leading lady after about 2.5km of the run and then cruised the rest of the race.
I was delighted to take the win. Its a great race, and fantastic that 32Gi are the main sponsors, but it’s a shame the entry fees are so expensive which puts people off. And perhaps it should be marketed a bit better as I dont think many people knew about it.
It was lovely having friends there supporting. It meant alot!
