Kelfords Kugas take the win!
Totalsports Terra Firma Challenge – 50km road bike (from Gordon’s Bay to Kleinmond), 13km road run, 25km mountain bike and 9km beach run, finishing at Kleinmond (Beach Front)
With a team of Dominique D’Oliveira (road bike), myself (road run), Madelie Van Der Westhuizen (mtb) and Hilda Hopking (beach run) we knew we stood a great chance of doing well.
During the race it was quite hard to tell who was leading which category due to their being teams of 2, teams of 4, mixed teams and single sex teams.
Dom came into the first handover well positioned. It was then up to me to keep up her good work on the road run. I passed several ladies, although I wasnt sure if they were in our category or not. There was a slight headwind and the route was fairly flat with a slight climb towards the 8km marker. From here we turned onto a gravel road which lead us through to the next hand over.
I was very happy with my run, averaging 4.05 /k, and felt strong at the finish.
I passed onto Madelie who had a great mountain bike ride who then passed onto Hildy for the tough beach run.
We were all delighted to take the win!
