A bit of a scary race for the first 40kms! I stayed at the back of the bunch and tried to keep out of trouble and avoid any crashes. Not long til Ironman so I really didnt want any injuries! Hospital bend was pretty crazy with crashes as usual. It was quite a slow start which wasnt great as it kept the bunch together. Once we got through Simonstown we managed to spread out and I felt more at ease.
I lost some time in the stretch before Nordhoek – we were heading into the wind and I struggled with power along the flat section. I much prefer hills!
I had been hoping to get nearer 3hrs but was happy to finish strong, and still in one piece!
